I had so much fun yesterday at the 4th Annual Pan African Cultural Festival held in Downtown Silver Spring, MD !! In addition to natural hair, I love the African culture, which is apart of me! I was born in DC and raised in Maryland but both of my parents are from Ghana, West Africa! I visit Ghana frequently. My last visit was 2012. God willingly I will visit next year. At the festival, I watched traditional dances from Brazil, Ghana (WHOOP WHOOP!), Cameroon, Ethiopia and Puerto Rico. I recorded a lot of videos and took some pictures. I saw Ghana’s first female king, King Peggy. She lives in Silver Spring, MD and she works at the Ghana Embassy in DC. There was an amazing fashion show featuring beautiful African cloths with a modern twist. Unfortunately, my iPhone was dead at this point so I didn’t capture any pictures or video footage of it. I cannot wait to get my fancy camera!! In the meantime, check out my pictures below! The videos of the various cultural dances are in this post 🙂
King Peggy in the heezy!
She was straight stylin’ on em!
Wooden carvings galore!
Her afro was everything in life!>>>
Yes I am a certified creep but I kind of know her if that helps to make me appear less creepy 🙂
I bought these Nubian Hueman earrings at the festival! They just opened up a boutique lounge in DC.
They had some lovely cards too. You already know this afro one was my favorite <3
My Marley twists and I, the sun came out for a couple of seconds.
My bestest and I with her uncle. He was a guest keynote speaker at the festival. He is Howard University professor, Dr.Kwaku Ofori-Ansah.
Brazil in the house!
So much FUN and COLOR! I had a blast!
