MaameYaa Boafo is a New York based actress and print model.  A native of Ghana, West Africa, Maame Yaa was raised in Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya and Switzerland where she made her acting debut in Kindergarten as a sheep in Gingerbread Man.  Her first taste of the stage ignited a passion for acting and led her to pursue a career in acting.

Coming to the United States to obtain a  double Bachelor’s in  Journalism and French at Hood College, MaameYaa was  then awarded the Levin Scholarship from Rutgers University, she received her MFA in Acting from the Mason Gross School of the Arts.  She has since gone on to play roles such as Ophelia in Hamlet, the Courtesan in Comedy of Errors and recently originated the role of Biftu in up and an coming playwright Antu Yacob’s Mourning Sun as well as Akosuah in Cori Thomas’ Akosua means Sunday.

Since making her on-screen acting debut in 2012 in  the award winning indie film Asa as the title role, MaameYaa has gone on to do the short New York I Love You, by Iquo B Essien, Tied & True, A Frieze Film & UKS Co-Production. She was was also featured in the documentary Black is Beautiful and stars in a music video for musician ABIAH, which she also co-directed.  Commercial appearances include Nickolodeon and Movicel starring Miss Universe 2011 Leila Lopes.

As a print model MaameYaa has worked with photographers such as Matt Furman, Jamel Toppin, Hannan Saleh and J.Quazi King and models for uber-pop women’s brand, Rue107. MaameYaa is currently finishing her first screenplay to be filmed later in the year.

      Yea she really is! All the ladies are so fab. I don’t see Lauryn though but I’ve seen other people say that in the comments section on YT. But yayyy to supporting and subscribing!! 🙂
