I’ve been gone for a minute now I’m back at the jump off *Lil Kim voice*. Today is an Out ‘N’ About post because ya girl recently went to happy hour at The Urban Winery located in Silver Spring, Maryland.
I had never heard of this new spot that officially opened it’s doors in Silver Spring on June 11, 2015. However, my brother Kwaku and his good friend/group member Ivan decided to celebrate their 35th birthday there. My brother and his two friends DJ on the side under the group name Dope Sciencery. They brought in their DJ equipment (you can see a little bit of it in the bottom left of the picture below) and they each took a spin throughout the evening.
They also provided various free wines to their guests (until the tab was reached). It was such a classy affair. I had about three different kinds of wine. Two from the free birthday wine menu and one from the non free menu.
I can’t recall the names of the two wines I had from the (free) birthday wine list. However, I will ask my brother and update them into this post. However, I do remember the wine I had from the regular (non free) wine menu. It was under the the Sweet Wine list and it was the White Cranberry Pinot Gris. I didn’t like it but my brother Kofi did and so did another guest next to me. I thought it was too sweet and I didn’t like the after taste. You can view the wine list here.
I ordered this YUMMY Three Cheese Mac with Shrimp (asiago, provolone, manchego, shrimp) from the appetizer menu twice! It was just that good. Though, the the first bowl pictured above was much cheesier than my second bowl. Either way, both bowls were delicious. My sister in law had the Blazed Wings (dry rub) and I had some of hers. They were okay. They definitely needed more seasoning. My bestie and my brother Kofi had the Blazed Wings (BBQ sauce) and they both liked it. They had much more flavor than the dry rub because of the BBQ sauce. You can view the food menu here.
My bestie came thru!
My brothers minus one! Birthday boy to the right 🙂
All in all, it was a great night. The atmosphere and vibe was very chill, as well as grown & sexy. I am definitely curious as to what the The Urban Winery’s atmosphere is like when there isn’t a birthday happy hour. The place was PACKED with people there just for the birthday celebration. Many of the guest (such as myself) had never been to The Urban Winery nor had we even heard of it until that evening. Check it out and if you do, try the Three Cheese Mac with Shrimp!
Thanks for reading and have an awesome week!!
