I had the pleasure of attending the 2016 Ubiquitous Expo at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington DC last Saturday (8.27.16). It was a great event to close out the month of August. I was invited as an influencer by You Be-Natural. I haven’t attended a natural hair event in years. However, this was a bit different from the ones I previously attended. The Ubiquitous Hair, Health & Beauty Expo didn’t just focus on natural hair but women’s overall health and wellbeing. Below I am sharing 6 reasons why you should attend the Ubiquitous Expo.
FYI-This list isn’t in any particular order.
1. FREE ISH!!
Did you know that Luster’s Pink has a natural hair-line? Yep they do and I was gifted with some of their goodies above along with a selfie stick. Luster’s wasn’t the only natural hair care line gifting full-sized products. Cantu Beauty was doing the same. Even if you don’t receive full-sized products, there are plenty of sample sizes given away. Who doesn’t love free ish? A product review on these items above is coming soon. Since I was a influencer guest of You Be-Natural, they are mailing me a gift box. I am looking forward to receiving that and I will share its contents here on my blog.
*EDIT* 9/16/15- I got my gift box!!!
I know celebrities bleed red and take dumps just like the rest of us. However, I will always find it cool to be in the same room with a celeb. This year singers Chante Moore, Yolanda Adams, Vivian Green and Maurette Brown Clark took the stage and performed. In addition, Nicole Ari Parker and her hubby Boris Kodjoe (Ghanaian jollof..lol) were there selling her Save Your Do Gym Wraps. Just based off of my observation of the two, Boris is a such a loving and supportive husband. It was sweet watching him help set up her booth and be there to SUPPORT her. Oh and he’s finneeeeeee! Nicole got her a good one and I know he’ll say the same about her. They’re a beautiful couple. Nicole also led the Ubiquitous/Girl Trek Walk in DC on Sunday morning (the expo is a two-day weekend event).
3. Network and Meet Fellow Bloggers
I met one of my FAVORITE bloggers Melissa Chanel. I have been following her since 2011 and I’ve watched her growth as a blogger. She is consistent, stylisth and ever so sweet #BloggerGoals. She is a Cantu Beauty Ambassador so she was at their booth answering questions and giving out full-sized Cantu Beauty products. I went up to her and we chatted briefly. That’s us pictured above. Too bad my eyes are closed..lol
There are so many workshops and hair demonstrations happening throughout the day. You can’t help but to learn a thing or two. There were also insightful panel discussions such as “Why Is This Election So Important?”, Caring for the Caregiver” , and much more. The schedule was jam packed.
5. Food, Vendors and Entertainment
This Caribbean food was plentiful and yummy. I am not sure how appetizing my picture looks but trust me, it was good. The line was so long but I got in early. Comedian Marcus D.Wiley took the stage for some stand up. There were musical performances as well as fashion & hair shows. There were plenty of vendors also. Hair vendors, beauty vendors, fashion vendors, jewelry vendors, skincare vendors and much more!
6. Show Up and Show Out!
The expo is the perfect place to get dolled up and strut your natural hair. Yes girl flex and wear that cute summer outfit. Come to slay and stay camera ready from head to toe! Thank you You Be-Natural for my pictures! 🙂
