This movie could’ve aired on Lifetime or BET. It reminded of the recent BET movie Only for One Night starring Karrueche Tran. Some movies don’t need to be in national theaters. When the Bough Breaks was one of those movies.
Regina Hall (pictured above) is gorgeous and definitely over 40 “goals”
can’t believe she is 45 but her acting in this film was terrible. Her character was annoying and too desperate for a baby. It came off as a little naive and unrealistic. I can somewhat understand her character’s desperation after suffering three miscarriages. However, she was extremely irrational. My bestie said Regina Hall and Morris Chestnut had ZERO chemistry. She said the same thing last year about Morris Chestnut and Sanaa Lathan who both starred in last September’s black movie thriller The Perfect Guy. I just think Morris Chestnut’s character was too stiff and serious just like his character in The Perfect Guy. The movie was too long. I got on my Instagram at some point and started scrolling through my timeline because I lost interest. At this point, the film was dragging. It didn’t help that the theater was FREEZING but that theater is always cold. Out of all the black movie thrillers that have come out every September since 2014 (No Good Deed, The Perfect Guy, and now When the Bough Breaks), this was the worst. I gave it one and a half stars and my bestie gave it one star. I wouldn’t recommend paying to see it. Wait until that ish comes out on Netflix, BET or Lifetime. It’s worth the wait and worth saving your coins for. Thank me later.
Have you When the Bough Breaks? What did you think of it?
